Gustav Klimt – The Tree of Life

Klimt [1862-1918] painted The Tree of Life in 1909 as a study for a series of mosaics in the Stoclet Palace in Brussels during what is known as his ‘golden phase’.  The Tree of life is among the most recognisable from Gustav Klimt's career and an undisputed masterpiece.  

A painting of flowers by Gustav Klimt sold at Sotheby’s London in 2017 for £48 million, a record for a work by the artist and at the time, thethird-highest price for any work sold at auction in Europe.
